My nephew and his wife did some work for OneBlade. They gave me one of the razors as a gift. I found out later, that the retail price for it was $400. They now have one going for $599. Have to admit it is impressive; but come on, $600!?
Panel Three is the way to go. It shaves cleanly, leaves no ingrown hairs as do multi-blade shavers, are much less costly to maintain (DE blades are never more than $1 apiece at their most expensive; usually no more than 30¢ each) and are “greener”. There is no pileup of expensive plastic cartridges in the trash. And using a shave brush and soap or cream is also greener: no aerosol gases and no clunky metal containers left over. Even the “big boys” are moving back into manufacturing/marketing double-edge razors. The world is tired of paying so much money for “proprietary” cartridges/handles. DE blades fit all the DE razors. :-)
Stopped shaving the day before my retirement ceremony from the military… as slow as my beard grows I probably could have quit the week before. Since then, I’ve only shaved it off once and discovered the grey beard makes me look younger than the face underneath it. That won’t happen ever again 8^)
Oh, and the last time I saw a barber was almost five years ago, just before the beard shaving incident. My hair grows as slow or slower than the beard and falls out way faster. Plus it has never grown longer than just above my shoulder blades. It’s a waste of money for me to use a barber.
And while my situation isn’t typical for many, I’d bet far more could get by without a shave or the barber. With the exception of the folks that need a snug fit on a gas mask or breathing apparatus, no one really needs to shave, they are just conditioned to believe they do.

Did the fifth panel years ago and have not looked back. Best move I ever made.

It is getting a bit ridiculous; I mean, come on! 5 blades now? (At the risk of being a hypocrite – that is what I use!)
