When I was in my first year of high school the family moved to western Colorado. It was there that I learned a valuable lesson about skiing…. if I don’t get on snow skis then trees won’t jump in my way.
It’s still true today and I haven’t had another tree get in my way since I stopped trying to snow ski (I did a bit better on water skis 8^)

Sort of has an assisted reverse uphill luge flavor.
Not sure about the origins of luge itself, but I bet it started with a double dog dare…
