Heart: mom, I need a cellphone! Heart: Everybody in my whole class has one except me! Mom: If everybody in your whole class jumped off a bridge, would you do that too? Heart: No, but if I had a cellphone I could all 911 and save dozens of lives! Mom: Ha ha no.

Sure thing, Heart. You will pay for the bill on your own, of course.

….when I see six year olds with I-phones… it really annoys me.

Nothing is worse than being ostracized by your peers because you lack material possessions. Just ask college students without cell phones, 30 year-olds without cars, 40 year-olds without houses, and 60-somethings without retirement accounts. This sort of thing wouldn’t happen if people would accept others for who they are, not what they have or what they can do for them, but that’s just foolish idealism, never mind that most people define themselves by what they own.

I’m with Nancy on this, a six year old does not need a cell phone and truecanadianliberal, this society has already gone down the slope and I am so happy I am in the winter of my life and won’t be around very much longer.

Yeah, and the next time Heart does something truly creative but unconventional, her mother will say, “Why can’t you be more like other kids?”
