Well, this (finally) explains Monday’s strip. Methinks they got a bit out of order this week.

If they’re out of order, then it’s Mr. Tatulli’s fault, not GoComics or the syndicate. Today’s strip is dated 12/28 while Monday’s is dated 12/23. Perhaps Mr. Tatulli dated them incorrectly?
