dean: Ha! I can't believe you're still having the old dog argument with your mom! dean: Why don't you do one of those temporary dog fostering things? once a dog is in your place, your mom is bound to fall in love with it! heart: what if she doesn't? it's too risky! dean: What are you risking? heart: My heart.

Most kids risk their dignity.

Moreover, I don’t think Heart has the staying power to take care of a pet in the long term! Too scatterbrained.

You have to be very special to foster animals.

Yeah. I couldn’t foster a kid or a pet.

My last cat was a foster fail, so I understand where Heart is coming from.

whether it’s a foster pet or one you’d keep the same reasons Mom had for saying no would still apply; maybe more so with a foster.

Our Jelly was our first foster, and our first fail. I have never regretting fostering a single dog we’ve had (even when we had EIGHT on top of our 3 one night!), I still have photos of them all, and I still love them.
We even got to see current photos and video of one of our babies at the last optometrist visit, a gal who works there is his furever mummy! And man did that dog get huge! LOL!
Yes, they each take a bit of your heart with them when they leave, but you also have the joy of knowing you helped them, and cared for them while waiting for their furever homes.

No pain, no gain. Plus you might find out that you actually really hate looking after dogs. Sometimes, disappointment sets us free.
