Happy to hear of alternative solutions for minimising carbon-intensive travel. He manages billions of dollars worth of charities and public investments.
While you at criticising this sort of thing, pretty good idea to dry-dock an aircraft carrier or two. They’re another kind of carbon-intensive management tool.
What a great idea, build smaller carriers but build a lot more of them. That would keep the ship building industry going for another couple of decades. We are building the next strike fighter and an SR-72 and the Army is working on all kinds of mechanical and autonomous weapons so I guess the Navy was feeling left out. Our defense budget really needs to be at least equivalent to the total of the next 20 countries added up.
Flying is one of the most efficient means of transportation, second only to trains.Driving across the country is expensive, carbon-wise.But Payne loves his cars, so, Mr Gates, don’t knock-em.
Only conservatives are allowed to be rich! How dare liberals fly in small jets, or have homes with more than one bedroom! Hmm, seen what planes and helicopters Trump is flying around in? Yep, no carbon footprint for that guy.
“You do realize China has more people in the military then the United States has in total population?”That’s flat out wrong. China has drastically reduced the size of their army, but greatly modernized the actual fighting force. The PLA numbers around 2.3 million.I’m not sure if any of the Russian tanks ‘in storage’ are modern, but I suspect few are. Even their active tanks are not the best. Either way, they can’t drive them anywhere without air superiority. Their ability to operate aircraft in Syria has been much less efficient than USAF standards.

The leader of the Free World should walk to Europe next time, and hitchhike to places in North America.
Grow up, Payne.
