    Communication only works if all sides are willing to listen. Voting rights is pretty up front. Hidden barriers to economic advancement continue to be throw up – jobs, housing, etc.

    While I get the gist of the quote, I.E. “nothing tried has worked”, the quote itself seems disjointed.

    The things Dr. King worked for were successful. I remember Jim Crow law, and it’s gone. We haven’t reached his ideal yet, but saying Dr. King (and the civil rights movement of the 1960-1970’s) did nothing, is delusional and an insult to him.The quote comes before his successes, and so, can express the truth of that time. It is not the truth of our time. Every American should read the Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr. to understand the times and to understand the progress he brought into our society.
