Versed (pronounced “ver-sed”). A commonly used anesthetic for inducing a controlled amnesia for light surgical procedures. When used properly, the patient believes they are asleep when, in fact, they are awake and can assist the medical staff by moving or answering requests. This can and has been quite amusing to the staff. Comments are unfiltered by the patient’s conscience and often are embarrassing, deeply hidden thoughts.
