When I was about ten, my Mom and Grandmom were talking about periods, and they were using euphemisms for everything. I asked what they were talking about and they told me. No euphemisms. I didn’t ask questions about anything for a while.
My daughter (adopted) started when she was 10 years old. She started crying one day saying she was bleeding down her leg and ran to the bath. I told her i would run and get what she needed and booked it to the store to get pads. We talked about her options of pads or tampons and the risks, and so she decided on pads.
Was it odd for me? Nope. I read plenty of books and have female friends all of which kept me informed, but I wasn’t expecting her maturuation until she was at least 12.

We were on vacation and scheduled to checkout of the hotel the morning this happened to my granddaughter. She refused to leave the shower.
