It’s like war: the only way to REALLY win is not to get involved at all.

They might be the “Adults” in the room, but their ‘Coping Skills’ leave something to be desired.

And meanwhile, where have Sedine’s parents gotten to? I can’t wait to see the fun when they all meet.

Sedine’s parents amuse because they are opposites: greedy and frantic vs generous and calm. Sam’s parents don’t amuse (me) because they are exactly the same: identical caricatures of a caricature. There it is. My first minor criticism of this fantastic strip. Happily, the four drawings of Sedine distract from Sam’s screeching parents.

Would’ve thought it was Sam-and-Sedine’s generation that would want a safe space.

This week has been RIGHT ON, so far. Last week’s parents were a bit of a “one note solo”, only dealing with money-money-money and stinginess, etc. The genius of this week is that it is an encapsulation and pithy description of a political ideology…. WITHOUT BEING POLITICAL. There is never a mention of political party, political ideology, specific political persons or events. It cleverly defines people and has fun without being obsessive or personal or mean. Sam’s parents covered the bases of eco activism, dietary concerns, gender identity, safe spaces, over sensitivity, constant offense, and totalitarianism without ever having to explain it. So I just did, I guess. I found it refreshing. Monday probably brings the meeting of the dichotomies! BOOM!
