Some food service employees are paid a lesser minimum wage, with the understanding that the balance is covered by gratuities.
Fast food coffee? Group tip cup? Unlikely. But sometimes, I’ll calculate the change as tip percentage. How much I give depends on whether there are statehood quarters or other interesting coins, and if she’s cute! I’d probably tip this barista a dollar, especially if I was a regular. (Sometimes, they can give you a free upgrade, like a bartender.)
