Tyr: So, what is this "jury duty"? Hamhock: Ah, it's a joke! You sit in a dingy, smelly room with a bunch of losers listening to some idiot and his problems and then decide if he's guilty or not! It's stupid! Tyr: So... I get to decide someone's fat and mete out well-deserved punishment? Hamhock: Well, I guess... Tyr: Truly the powers of a god! Hamhock: Yeah, with the atmosphere of a bus depot...
Depends: In some places the jury determines guilt or innocence and the judge hands down sentence; in some places one jury determines guilt or innocence and another jury determines sentence; and in a few cases, the same jury that determines guilt or innocence also determines the sentence. A very confusing state of affairs.
