Kinda strange. There’s an actual Dick Bavetta, the Dean of NBA refs by longevity, age, games officiated without an absence, and believing firmly that he, not the players, is the show.
Back in the 80s, Bavetta reffed a game between Celts and Sixers by himself, in which Larry Bird and Dr. J got a lot more than touchy-feelie–they tried to kill each other.
