I agree that there’s no reason for the advertising. And don’t even talk about the freebies that pharmaceutical reps give to doctors to sway them to prescribe their drugs. (a friend of mine is a rep and gives away tons of stuff. Another friend is a pharmacist, and he says doctors often have no idea what the drugs they’re prescribing really do – they’re just going by what the rep said or reaching for whatever free samples they’ve got on hand).
