Jane is perfectly aware of what she does that’s harmful to her. A truth universally acknowledged is that insight isn’t enough.

I was asked by a gay friend to be her “date” at a wedding. She wanted to avoid drama. People were surprised to see me. Everyone had figured out her sexuality years before. No one cared.
