A chip takes seconds to be implanted. Why would the dog be gone long enough for another dog to move in?

I once read about a situation where the police were chasing a known criminal across several properties when a dog came out of nowhere and took him down. The police went to the homeowner to call off his dog because the dog wouldn’t let the police get close enough to take the criminal in custody. The home owner called off the dog, but it wasn’t his dog, it turned out to be a stray that just happened to be in his back yard when the criminal tried to run through it. At least it was a stray until the homeowner adopted him, he said that if the dog was willing to guard his property like that then he deserved to have a home.

.A great uncle of mine was in an early auto in Dixie County Florida when he turned it over and was trapped and unconscious. .Wild hogs would’ve eaten him alive but his “worthless” old hound held them off until help arrived..He wouldn’t let THEM near him either..The sheriff had to shoot the dog to save its human.Folks say he had tears streaming down his face in response to the loyalty it showed.

“To subdue or kill ?”.Kill.Subdue would not bring sadness.Inability to subdue did.No tranquilizer guns back then or at least not around there and no other way came to mind to risk others to subdue.Plus, time was of the essence if you wanted the human to live.
