A new, young pastor experimented at two local churches by dressing like a bum. Complete with long hair, dirty clothes, no showers. He then attended the churches, sat in the back, and waited to see how he would be treated. He wanted to know if people would be welcoming despite his appearance. Afterwards, he wrote an op-ed piece for the newspaper. It was excellent. At one church, he was shunned and ignored. At the other, he was greeted warmly, and offered food and clothing from their pantry.
