I love how Marcus simply cannot believe that his presentation was good and well-received. I wonder if he also had to be convinced that he was good at football…

Are his hands trembling in panel three? … I dunno about this. I’m all for challenging oneself, but Marcus stepped up for a good cause and succeeded. He’s got nothing else to prove. I’m fine with him walking away from this deal. Why put yourself through such angst and anxiety on an ongoing basis – especially if it’s only for money?

He’s laying the groundwork for a career after football…

Like people who read great in church in front of hundreds of people, but otherwise have no large group presentation skills. Heart isn’t in it.

It’s only money. On the other hand, he can’t play football forever.

Football can ruin him if he continues. Brain injury is hard to treat.

Fear of public speaking is one of the most common phobias. I dare say most public speakers get some butterflies before walking on stage or up to the podium. I know it used to absolutely terrify me. Then, I joined a church where the members give the sermons and teach the classses. Through practice I got better at it (along with a whole lot of heavenly help!), to where I’m fairly comfortable with it. I doubt I could ever pull off a TED Talk sort of thing, but I eventually became a college professor! If Marcus practiced, I’ll bet he would become more comfortable with it.
