Actually, I hate seeing Mort get ratted out. My only hope now is that only Sam knows, everybody else does not believe. Or, Mort could become part of Sam’s Battalion and be a Rescue (not rescued) Dog, sent for the lost and/or endangered when the structure cannot support the weight of a human. “Joe, I’ve got a situation here, please bring Mort, AND DON’T SPARE THE SIRIEN!”

Mortimer should get a special dinner at least. I know these things should happen close to the time of the good deed, but he did a great thing.
