    Re: Rainbow is an octave.Not quite.An octave is a interval of half or double in frequency, or equivalently double or half in wavelength. The lowest frequency / longest wavelength light is red, which bottoms out at ~400 THz (or tops out at ~750nm). The highest frequency / shortest wavelength light is violet, with tops out at ~789THz (380nm).Both red and violet light are listed with very generous definitions but even with that, the visible spectrum is slightly less than an octave.
