Historically, you’re generally correct. But in some more current reinterpretations it does. For instance, in this annually reoccurring theme in Sinfest:

day after day after day, after day ….relentless attack!

I prefer to think that today folks are taking a break from that and simply playing with the image in their own various ways.

By the way, and as a general reminder, the three characters in the car are, from left to right, Cuco, Vero, and Eddie.

So all these comments are meaningless, as is Lalo.

Ah, back to the attack. Well, it was good while it (briefly) lasted.

Why does it even have to be a holiday? Maybe she’s just afraid of dying… Many countries who are deathly afraid of terrorists have far more traffic fatalities.

Seems simple enough, the driver is having fun driving aggressively leading his passengers to imagine getting compacted between the trucks and facing death.

I think the expression is,pot, meet kettle.
