I usually don’t feel the need to comment on my own comics here, but this one’s special. As a kid, I was (like nearly every kid in the 1950’s) a huge fan of THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN.
Fast forward 50 years…
Last week I had the great pleasure of having dinner with Noel Neill the actress who played Lois Lane on the show and I’m still pretty jazzed. I’m going to post some photos and comments on my site shortly. I’ll post a link once it’s up.
I’m jealous of you, John. I loved Superman. I’m looking forward to the link. I remember when he took a piece of coal and turned it into a diamond with his bare hand.
Great link, Charlie, and great clips of Errol Flynn. You’re right about being inspired by Hollywood heroes. And I can’t say that I felt this way just as a kid. When I was in college, my first apartment was right behind a revival movie theater that used to show all the old Warner Brother movies. Boy, I ate up those old Flynn films.
Well, back to writing up my dinner. Oh, and margueritem, it’s funny you mentioning the diamond episode with Superman. I watched that episode again the night before I had dinner with Noel!
I’ve now posted a bit about my dinner with Noel (with photos) on my site. If this doesn’t come through as a click-able link then paste this into your browser: http://tinyurl.com/c5jvcm
John, thank you for sharing that with us. She’s still a cutie!
It was nice to see what you look like. I like your real face much better than your cartoon visage.
Having dinner with Noel Neill! Off all the things I’ve ever read on this site, that impresses me most! Excluding the comics. And, occasionally, not even that. If you see her again give her all our best wishes. Wow! Jeepers, Miss Lane!

I really enjoyed the link, thanks John!
@John: By the silken breast of Mogg’s mother… you had dinner with Noel Neill‽
Well, I’m well and truly jealous. If I have any memories at all of being 4 years old in 1955, watching Superman is one of them.
Great strip today… wish she had been at ComicCon in NYC, where I enjoyed meeting you as well.

John, hope you get to have lunch with Jack Larson next! Last I heard he lived on Skyeway Road in Los Angeles!

My pleasure, margueritem. And I’m glad my whiskered-mug didn’t scare you off. Dypak, I’ll pass on the good wishes to Noel. Thanks!
