Actually, I just took another look at what (I believe) were the original scans of the art from 2001.
I’m almost positive now that I DIDN’T flip any of the art. It seems clear to me that Dick (who was a car enthusiast) must’ve deliberately put the steering wheel on the right. Which means this story (unknown to me–and I wrote it!) takes place in Great Britain!
(Either that or the owner of the car is so rich that he had the car shipped from Britain.)
It really changes nothing about the story. And I personally think that Miss Muffet herself is American. Still, I’m surprised!
