My first ever business trip and a co-worker & I decided to for a swim after getting in our respective rooms. So when there was a knock on the door I flung it open in only my bathing suit and saw two pretty young women there. One declared “turn down service” and I was totally baffled. Not only had I never heard of turn down service, I have never needed it (I get turned down plenty often without a service). They saw the puzzled look on my face and added “turn down the bed”. My confused reply was “why, is making too much noise?”. Finally one reached in her bucket and gave me a mint and they left. My coworker had come by and was laughing, he explained it to me.

She provided service requested and turned him down when what he MEANT was “Turn away and bend down.” It was a natural mistake.
