Just the threat of a rolled up newspaper (back when I remember getting a paper) usually inspired my dog to get down off the furniture pretty quickly. A few fake slaps into my hand was all it took and he got the message which thankfully I only had to fake a few times. Not the same with a smartphone or tablet today.
Our dogs have always been allowed on furniture – they had one piece they could choose in living room and it was their’s , when we had friends over we’d just share the dogs piece of furniture with them, or if they go ticked sharing, they’d get off and go lay on their orthopedic bed or go to their bedroom and get on their queen bed – we’ve always spoiled our poochies
