It’s been a few years since I’ve been able to get around well enough to attend the “Big E” — Eastern States Exposition — in West Springfield, MA, but I have so many wonderful memories, going all the way back to childhood. Mom and Dad maintained it was educational, so we always got to miss a day of school to attend midweek, when it was a little less busy. This year, it opens September 13.
Miss the small county fairs, I think of Doc Hollywood and the dancing bees. Used to enter my pigeons in the judging, spend hours wandering the magic. 47 years ago, times have definitely changed.
