Term limits have their own problems. Look at the term limited nonfunctioning state legislatures. If you term limit congress you give carte blanche to the executive branch and its nonelected agencies.
I think there are some capable Republicans. The problem is that the people who run the Republican Party are idiots. Look who they ran last time: a very wealthy one per center who was secretive about his faith and who really didn’t offer any real solutions to the problems of the time (which are the same problems we have now).
The Republican Party believes they can run whoever they want and then get them elected by pouring huge amounts of wealthy donors’ cash into the campaign. That might work locally but it isn’t going to work in the next presidential campaign.
It’s kind of the inverse of the old time yellow dog Democrat concept. The voter says, “I’m gonna vote Democrat even if he’s a yellow dog.” But the policy of today’s Republican Party is, " we’re gonna run this candidate even if he’s a yellow dog." Because it’s who we want.
Hey, Republican Party, show us your solution for campaign reform, banking reform, education reform, healthcare reform, patent reform, inexplicably high drug prices, military and other government waste reform, etc., etc. Hey, Republican Party, it’s time to WAKE UP!
