When our kids were ages 11, 9, and 5, we had a “switch places” day. My 11 year old was the mom, and my 9 year old was the dad, and they got to make the rules for the day and be in charge. My husband and I were kids for the day and we were just a teeny bit bratty. Teee heee. The 9 year old wanted to hand down an unfair grounding to the 5 year old, but I took her aside and said don’t worry, I would reverse any unfair punishment she received.
At the end of the day, my 9 year old was near tears. “No one would listen to me, and you expected me to fix everything that went wrong!”
We homeschooled, and the next day they had writing assignments about our little experiment. I think it was very enlightening for them!
