In college I picked up extra cash volunteering for research experiments. One had me spend several two-hour sessions in a chamber which had up to second-stage-smog alert levels of ozone. I would walk on a treadmill for ten minutes then have a five-minute break to catch my breath before starting again. Although they never told us which days had the highest levels of ozone, I could tell – on those days, I never caught my breath. It was then I realized why children are not allowed to go out and exercise during recess on such days.
Another was a motion sickness study. I was seated in a six-foot-cube that was mounted on a hydraulic ram. It could simulate up to six-foot wave motion. It was so rhythmic, it just made me sleepy, but you had to press one of a row of buttons once a minute to indicate your degree of nausea. It didn’t bother me but I could hear the guy in the next cubicle being sick. Since the continued study was to test various drugs on the motion sickness, I was not asked back.
I had known from the beginning that I would not get motion sick because it had not happened when I was upside down in the back seat of a T-33 jet aircraft over Pike’s Peak at 500 mph. :)

I do not get the references here. I had to look at the comments to know to what this comic referred.

Give him some lemonade to cool off, and give me a container to catch the runoff. I really enjoy a glass of lemonade spiked with cayenne.
Sometimes it’s good to downsize in an economy like this, and with the price of gas, you have a small fortune in coal on you.
