    Silly boy, what do you think a hang-glider is? Go Maria, don’t let anybody clip your wings. You might want to work on your safety skills though. It’s more fun if you can do it more than once.

    Actually, in the days before airplanes, the Japanese, among others, used to send scouts aloft on giant kites because they hadn’t invented the hot air balloon. I never heard how they got down safely, though.

    Some years ago in Gary, Indiana (I don’t recall all the details) a man trying for a Guinness record launched a string of 112 kites. It lifted him 20 feet off the ground before he let go. The string of kites ended up miles away in Lake Michigan.
