The original meaning of ‘to prove’ is to ‘put to the test,’ not ‘to demonstrate as indisputable and incontrovertible truth.’ So in that sense, I would agree that the Big Bang has been ‘proven.’ But no one alive was there, and science has been revised many times, when theories that were thought airtight were challenged by new findings. Theory is not synonymous with fact.

Well…according to theory, before the big bang there was nothing. No matter, no time, and no light. Theory has only shown the possibility of the Big Bang being true because of space expansion and space temperature degradation. Time is thought to be one of the many dimensions of reality that moves along at a constant pace. We are only aware of its presence because we can measure it. Most popular theory is that the universe has no end because of constant expansion. BUT, it is also theorized that the expansion will eventually slow down and stop. Then the universe would reverse direction and collapse in the Big Crunch.

Other theories say that the Big Bang is what happens when a block hole if formed. That our universe is the other side of some other universe’s black hole.

Others believe that our universe is just a bubble in a greater reality (some call it the cosmic swiss cheese) that contains an infinite amount of bubbles.

Hope I didn’t put anyone to sleep with this =P
