When my dog Shilo was a puppy he loved chasing birds, which he still does. He genuinely thought if he ran fast enough and jumped high enough he could take off and fly off after them. The day he finally realised that was never going to happen he was so dejected. He just sat in the middle of the garden looking up to the sky with such a look of disappointment on his face. I felt so sorry for him. But he soon got over it. He still chases the birds but not the little ones, we taught him not to do that. He the bane of the crow population though. ☺
