Long ago, before the TV remotes employed IR light [or even bluetooth etc.], sound was used for the simple control of just channels. When our pet’s neck itched and he sat in front of the set to scratch, the jingling tags would start the ch knob rotating. Fortunately there were only 12 positions then.
