I don’t think parents can be there 24/7. The hospital would let them, but they’d fry after awhile. Even parents need to get some rest and have a little just-the-two-of-them time. Besides, how could Elizabeth have the wonderful effect she’s having on Lila if they couldn’t be together like this? I think Lila really is growing (which is what should happen in any good story).
what would be the point of Lila being anybody other than Lila?
she HAS to remain the self centered,boozy, fashion conscious ,live for the moment kinda gal we’ve come to know and love.
If she turned into some syrupy , unselfish , altruistic great gal….where’s the laughs?
that would turn this great strip into some ‘for better or for worse’ lifelike , feel good, g rated clone.
how can boyd’s cutting remarks have any humor if they aren’t true?
maybe that’s just an overreaction on my part…
maybe this was just a moment of insanity for Lila
and she will go to the mall and try on some shoes after leaving the hospital

You can love kids and still be a floozy, take a deep breath nighthawk. Heart and sole can exist in the same person and still be funny. Two dimensions only takes one so far, add a little 3d once in awhile and you keep em guessing.

Maybe she’s an orphan & Lila will adopt her & eventually marry Dr Fine. That would be quite a whopper of a dream when she wakes up with a hangover
