Um, what exactly is your point? Colin Powell had the appropriate answer. It is absolutely absurd to call him a Muslim on the face of it if you know anything about Muslims. On the other hand, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a Muslim – and certainly nothing that would disqualify one from being president. The real problem is with the motivations of those who bring it up in the first place. Their calling him a Muslim is intended to be an insult, a slur. They are trying to say (without saying it out right) that he has no right to be president, that he can’t be a REAL American if he’s one of “them.” So, while there is nothing wrong with being Muslim, there is something morally wrong with throwing around religion – or race or national background – in order to demean a person.
