Just love these Depression Era cartoons! Hope TIIC resist the urge to try to change the pricing. Jeff – bring that Dollar’s worth of potatoes over to my house – I’ll take them all. Looks like the wheels of a Model T Ford – but they COULD also be buggy wheels and the boys are trying to peddle their fresh produce door to door in a horse-drawn cart.
Wow, does today’s strip bring back memories! The peddlers coming around to our neighborhood selling their fruits and vegetables. One would drive his very slow moving truck yelling CANTELOPE, CANTELOPE, STRAWBERRIES, CANTELOPE!. A time that will never return.
Reminds me of my (deceased) brother-in-law. He planted watermelon one year, but they grew so fast the side got scrubbed off as the vines drug them across the ground. A sow rooted around in one and had her piglets in there, It came to no good though as a seed fell and killed the whole litter.

It’s Jeff’s verbal fertilizer that makes the potatoes grow so fast.

What diff does that make, as long as the ones on the bottom aren’t bruised or rotten.
