I think when this comic originally appeared, the balloon in the final panel was pointed at Al Smith’s signature, which, for whatever reason, has been omitted here.

Shortly after this strip started, I got a radium watch. The painters are all dead from poisoning, but I’m still going strong. Unlike today’s strip, black humor is better than no humor at all.
