This was freely ‘borrowed’ from an episode of The Honeymooners in which Ralph tells Alice instead of carrying such a large load of laundry, she should make two trips.
I have read Mutt and Jeff for years and one thing has always confused me. Some days the strip shows Mutt with a wife and son named Cicero who looks very much like Jeff. On other days it seems they are two bachelors living together. Is it a chronological thing where at one point in the strip’s history Mutt got married and then they had Cicero? Just curious.

Oh – for the days when the average individual could buy ALL the groceries he needed for an entire week – and could carry them all home in ONE bag!
