Well, Nationalizing Banks (e.g. 2008 crash), U.S. Federal Reserve Bank (no inflation prior, a 1918 dollar is now worth 2¢), and Nixon basing the dollar on nothing has sure helped the population. Thus proving you can fool all the people all the time.
I once worked for a company where one of the CEOs was heard to say: One day, I was too sick to go to work. I worried the entire day, how things would get done. When I did get back, found that things were still going as normal. But, a couple days later, the janitor was late coming in, and my phone was ringing off the wall!!
