I was off and running (well, walking anyway) this morning. I took my 2000 step walk around the neighborhood for the first time in a while. It was actually cool enough (80) to do it. It felt good to get out again.
Today was one of the days when the privilege of being an HOA board member wasn’t such a privilege. We had a nasty clogged toilet in the ladies room at the clubhouse and I had to escort the plumber over there for the repair. Both the gate into that area and the door to the restroom are on heavy springs that lock behind you and I didn’t want to have the plumber locked in so I stayed while he did his job. Yuck! Not a job I would want.
My visit with the radiation oncologist’s PA went well yesterday. She says I have very little scar tissue from the radiation and have healed very well. She doesn’t want to see me again for a year. Yay! Now all I need to do is convince the other two doctors the same thing. The next one is at the end of September.
My latest book is “Treasure Island”. We watched the Jackie Cooper/Wallace Beery movie version not to long ago, and as always, I am astounded at how much they changed for the movie. For one thing, Long John Silver’s leg had been amputated at the hip, and that would be a lot harder for an actor to fake than a knee amputation in 1934. No CG. (In fact, after watching “Light & Magic” on Disney+, I found out that real CG didn’t exist until Jurassic Park in 1993. There had been some CG effects before that, but JP was the first fully computer animated special effects movie.) BTW, I highly recommend “Light & Magic” if you are at all interested in either Lucas or how they did/do special effects.
Weather wise, we’re holding true to form. 100 today and the humidity is coming back down, albeit slowly.
