The big problem with EVs is that here in the United States there are highways where you can go 400 miles or so without a single publicly-accessible charging station, meaning that even a long-range vehicle with a solar charger of some kind would be hard-pressed to make the trip under its own power.
It’s rather chicken-and-egg as a lot of people won’t want to purchase EVs until there are more charging stations in more places and these distances shrink, but a lot of places won’t put EV charging stations in until they know there’s actual demand.
