I was in Cairo about 25 years ago, and I visited the museum where the gold mask of King Tut is on display. It was in the middle of a room in a glass case with one guard to watch over it. Somehow I thought it would be better protected than it was.
Nancy (and Sluggo) messing around with the museum artifacts was a recurring Bushmiller bit. In 1945, Sluggo got a job at the museum, yielding three weeks of gags like this one, beginning here:
I miss the museums that just had stuff to show you and showed it. Now they have this nouvelle look where each exhibit is a single object in a pristine white environment surrounded by dead air. The history museum where I grew up moved into the old Carnegie library, with much more space than it used to have, and chose to exhibit about 10% as much material, making for a rather short and frustrating experience.
I’m glad we still have the Frontier Times Museum in Bandera to be able to visit (the linked pic is part of an album devoted to the place).
Pyramid Club. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Pyramid Club may refer to the following night clubs: Pyramid Club (New York City), a night club in East Village, Manhattan, popular among the gay and drag scenes.
