The original Nancy comment on GoComics! This comment posted on February 4, 2014. So, Guy, do you see these old comments done after the strip has been published? Will anyone see this, buried 18 years in the past? After posting my 137 day “statistical review” of Nancy on January 15, 2014, I started looking back, and back, to see what the strip looked like in earlier days. It’s been a fascinating journey so far, several thousand strips later! Watching the artwork, and the characters, slowly change with the years. But… is this strip, Jan 29 1996, the original “Guy & Brad” strip? Was there some special edition to show off the change of authorship? And at some point I still haven’t determined, it seems Guy went solo on this. Why? Also noticing Fritzi went through quite a redraw transition over the years, although Nancy has been very similar. Many early strips seemed to have a theme of dieting, though, a theme that has dropped out. Also it seems that there were more “secondary appearances” by other kids in the earlier strips, something we’re not seeing as much of. Also noticing that Nancy frowned more in the earlier strips, and seemed to have more fights with Sluggo than in more recent days. All in all, fascinating trip through time, which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. And, Guy, if you ever do happen upon this long-lost entry, please add a comment below. I’ll check back periodically!-Mark, aka “Steve Zodiac”, from the 1960’s TV show “Fireball XL5”
