It really is perspective, Sluggo. Take Gulf war I – I could tell you something about it, but my viewpoint would be different than someone that was there. Same thing with any big, international news story.
Ouch! Sluggo plays dirty. But, he’s right. Shame on you Phil for not keeping up with current events. For what is todays current events, could become tomorrow’s history!
I can remember asking my Mom about WWI once when I was about Sluggo’s age. When she complained about us always asking her questions about things she wasn’t old enough to remember, I said “yeah, but the history was NEWER then”.
I prefer the classic Christian rockers like Bloodgood, Rez, Stryper and Sacred Warrior (the Iron Maiden of the genre), but Toby Mac’s put out some pretty listenable stuff, both as a solo artist and with DC Talk.
Started feeling aged at 26 when I overheard an undergraduate at breakfast telling her friends she had gone to see “Deep Throat” (the notorious porn film when I was in Jr. high) because she had been studying Watergate (the big news event of the time) in her history class.
I went back to college thirteen years after graduating from high school. I was amazed at how much history was included in my studies that happened during those thirteen years.
I remember on Leave It To Beaver where Beaver is having trouble with his history homework and his father says that he never had that problem. Beaver then replies, But pop when you were a kid there wasn’t nearly as much of it to study.

Toby Mac is a Christian artist. Not country, though, in any way that I have heard.

This is the point where I recall the gags from Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner’s “2000 Year Old Man.”

My father (when I was a kid): “When I was your age, I had to memorize all the presidents.”Me: “When you were my age, there were a lot fewer of them.”

I believe I see your point, it is on top of your head.
