I’d like to be with Fritzi when the power goes out! Just to help her find the flashlight of course!

Just use the candle Fritzi—the flashlight’s batteries are probably shot.

Ah, the memories. Lights go out, everyone gathers around the kitchen table with a candle in the middle for light. It brought the family together for good conversation. What a disappointment when the lights came back on!

I can’t believe that Fritzie, a very organized young lady, doesn’t keep three or four flashlights in specific places that she can find in the dark. For that matter, since Three Rocks is a northern town, with lots of snow, I would expect her to be prepared for the power to go out for several days (snapped power lines, y’know).

If no one else will say it, I will….
Why doesn’t she just turn on those headlights!

I gather Fritzi doesn’t have an iPhone with built-in flashlight utility, or an Android phone with a flashlight app…

I’ve used those, too… and the wall mounted night lights that stay charged in the wall and then flicker on and off as soon as the power goes out (which is handy if it happens in the daytime, and gives you a signal in case you didn’t notice anything else), and when you remove it from the wall, or the power goes out, is charged enough already that it becomes a handy flashlight/area light/ beacon… and with the “better models” (all range between 10 and 20 dollars) you get hours of light… – Also there’s this , a solar charger that can plug into your USB drives on your computer to give your cell phone/IPod, etc. a full charge, or can be solar powered to give a charge at a smaller, slower rate…. during a recent massive power outage a while back, many charged their devices at Wi-Fi enabled places such as libraries, restaurants, even hospitals (which allowed people to stay cool during the summer and to use their power/Wi Fi)….

I can see the power plant from my house and we have had more power outages here than anywhere I ever lived (not counting overseas), they do get it back on fairly quickly though.

Fumble, fumble. Was Phil there with her when the lights went out?

This is why I always keep one of those little pencil flashlights in my pocket.
