We would go to the Leimert Theater in Los Angeles. when I was 12, back in the Dark Ages, 25 cents would get you in. ($.11 admission, a candy bar $.05 and a coke, in a bottle, $.05.) I saved those 4 cents every week, in my piggy bank. You got The Newsreel, a Roy Roger’s serial, a cartoon and the ( mostly inappropriate for kids ) movie . And yes I saw Lost Weekend. Only remember it vaguely. I was probably too busy flirting with the boys. They were the actual reason we went!
Last move we went to was before my son was born, so 10 years ago. Most folks don’t go any more. One of the locals mega screen complexes just shut their door for the final time.

Go to a cheap matinee—and maybe you can afford popcorn and a drink.

That sounds about right. I’m old enough to remember $1.00 matinees. Those were the days.

I honestly do not remember the last time I was in a movie theater.

Norm should get out more, he feels like a complete unknown.

The theater’s soft drinks now come in a handy 50 oz. size, but sharing is not allowed.

Or the popcorn. Whichever.
