Teacher: Ok, class...I have an announcement on school policy regarding valentine's day cards... Danae: Z Teacher: You'll have to give all your classmates a valentine, not just the ones you like. Danae: Excusem me, ma'am...perhaps I should point out a little conflict here. Teacher: With what, Danae? Teacher: Um...the first amendment? Teacher: This academia, dear...we only preach freedom of speech, not practice it.
That’s how it was done at my school, from kindergarten thru the 4th grade, and that’s essentially what I was led to believe Valentine’s Day was all about.
