When I had my retrievers that I hunted never had an issue with fireworks or thunder. But when I had just pet dogs they were cowards of noises. Coincidence? I think not.
Please remember that some of our pets are sensitive to loud noises, so please do your best to keep them and the rest some place safe and quite this July 4th.
Several generations ago, when I was young, I formed an opinion (which I’m sure most people would disagree with) that I can see no reason for ANYONE to think that there was any sane reason to associate our independence with loud upsetting noise. Obviously I was outvoted. I still think that it is criminal to set off fireworks, considering all the animals (not just cats and dogs; but racoons, opossums, birds, people who hate loud noise, etc. etc. etc.)It just seems like people are never as thoughtfuland caring as they ought to be.
I think most everyone is aware some cats and dogs are not comfortable around fireworks. If your pet is among them, just keep them inside where it is a bit quieter. The suggestions from Kat and Zin Rosenblum above might be helpful…

Business is booming. This may be bad for the pets, but it’s good for RadiocollarShack.

Horses — at least some of them — are also frightened by loud noises… thunder, as well as fireworks.

And who can blame them? Things that blow up are generally not healthy for living creatures.

Whenever fireworks are going off near our house, my Charlie goes nuts…until I take him outside to see them!
