I hate it when strangers ask me what I’m reading.

    Thanks, Mark!

I can see how this idea might some in handy.

Possibly less likely to get you in trouble at the gate, but still effective:

    “Travelling with Tarantulas”

“Three Steps to Curing Your Leprosy!”

    “Vomiting on Demand for Dummies.”

    Yeah….

    Oh… and Liverlips….

    In a cartoon.

There’s a guy that actually does this and goes on the subway. If you google, “guy that makes fake book covers” (without the quotation marks) you’ll find him. I’d post the link, but some of the covers have foul language, and I don’t want to get in trouble.

An author of humor books, back in the 1930’s, got hold of a “publisher’s dummy,” which he points out is not an author but is the book with cover with title and all but with blank pages. He took it on trips and would hold it open and go through every human emotion, laughter, sobbing, rage, etc., sometimes closing it on his lap and looking into the distance shaking his head. People would look at the blank page and give him lots of space.
