If you add up your ancestors and multiply by two for each generation (4 grandparents, 8 great grands, 16 great-great grands, etc., etc.), you end up with more than 4 billion people by about 32 generations back. Which is more people than were on the earth until relatively recently. Admittedly, not all those ancestors would have been around at the same time.
